As you are probably aware, there are a lot of job boards on the Net. Some of them charge you a small monthly fee to join, some of them charge you good money, and offer a lot of services you don’t need. Only a few of them are free of charge. Usually, they are the best ones.
After using them for a few months now, I’m under the impression, that most of the job posted there, are being posted by my fellow freelance web designers, just to get an idea, of how much other designers charge, or what their job proposals look like. That applies, especially to jobs postings, where you can’t see a link to a client’s web site, or instead of a company name it just says “private” or, for example, “Real Estate agency”.
An advice: be careful, when you sign in for a trial or something like this. Always make sure, that somewhere on the bottom of a page it doesn’t say that they are going to bill your account every month for their services. Of course, always read terms and conditions :)

I don’t know how I came up to an idea of becoming a freelance web designer. I can’t even remember now, when and why this happened. Maybe, because I was looking for an extra challenge and adventure on my life?
I can assure you now – there is more challenge and adventure in being a freelance web designer, then one can expect.
The first challenge was: where to find clients, who would be willing to pay your hourly rate? Where to find clients, who understand, how much a good job really costs? Where to find clients, whom you don’t need to explain, why you’re charging $5000 for job, when a guy next door has promised to do exactly the same for just $100 plus a movie ticket?
I still don’t have answer to some of my own questions :)
